Hi All : )

I'm building my first Acoustic Electric guitar but only have experience playing unamplified Classical/Flamenco guitars..

Does anyone know of one or two good online resources where I can bring myself up to speed with Acoustic Amplifiers? (Looking to get a basic understanding of the technology & features to look for before I go out and purchase my first amp...)

I'm more looking for info on what makes a good amp, and what are the features people look for as opposed to Brand names - that way I can take the finished guitar down to the music store, plug it into a few potentials, and make a choice from there...

I'll check out the Rolands and Fishmans however, in a vain attempt to be hip :D

The Roland and Fishman have multiple channels, feedback suppression, and some effects. Of course, the Roland AC-90 and AC-60 are both true stereo amps, with Rolands' patented stereo chorus. Beyond this info, I suggest doing some research on the respective websites, and watch some demo videos on YouTube. Both amps have a reputation for ruggedness and dependability. These are the only two amps I have any experience with, so I can't recommend any others on the market. I hope your shopping experience yields a great amp!

Out of curiosity, are you needing a combo for on stage monitoring or an onstage amplification system since you're needing features. If I were looking for something in that realm, I'd just look for a powered speaker like a QSC K10.2 which you can plug into directly, or run your guitar through a board or pre-amp with XLR out and do research on live sound rather than just amps - at least you'll have room to grow with vocal mics if needed.

awesome - cheers all once again...

one last question... as I'm mostly a play at home kinda guy, and the room i'll usually be playing in is 6mx6mx2.5m (or 20'x20'x8'), any recommendations on the wattage of the amp??

Watts: low is fine for bedroom playing.

But this begs the question: unless you're looping or really set on crazy effects, why do you need/want to amplify your acoustic at home? The only reason I ever plug it in is if I'm playing with a loop pedal...
