I just noted there are messages in my PM "Outbox" that are unsent (not in the "Sent" box).
How do you send PMs that are stuck in the "Outbox"?
I've tried everything I can think of, but cant find that "send" button....

That's a quirk of the system. The messages remain in the Outbox until they are viewed by the recipient even though they have been sent.

I'm not receiving notifications that I have anything waiting in my in box so if this is the case for others they may not know they even have a message I often don't now.

If you are having trouble with Private Messages.

Open up your User Control Panel -- Top right of your screen under the Advertisement supporters panel.

Under Options on the left, click Board Preferences and under Edit Global Settings, Make sure your selections are correct.

Good luck! If you make changes, don't forget to hit the submit button at the bottom or the changes won't be saved.

Mine look like this and everything seems to be working correctly -

I stopped receiving notices of PMs several years ago and was not able to find anything in the dashboard settings to fix that problem. I've gone to the Global Settings page before and it hasn't made a difference. The "Notify me on new private messages" button has been set to Yes for all that time to no avail. The only way I know that a PM has been sent to me is if I happen to look at the tiny "new messages" notice at the top of the forum web pages.

I don't get notices of new posts to a thread I have posted on either.

The board inconsistency on this is weird, for sure. My notification settings all work exactly the way I have them set. I receive timely e-mail notices of new private messages (got some this morning, in fact).

Have you tried the reset button in the preferences options, then submit.

Then close the OLF page, open preferences, make your changes, submit, close page and reopen and test it with someone.

Just making some suggestions that might work and that we can access and change. There could be other issues with notifications like email alerts going to a spam folder in you email.

Hard to explain how it works for some members but not others.

I can send a test PM after checking settings to JDR and Hesh if you like. But working outside today, I could do it right now as taking a break or in an hour or so.

Want test PM, say so.

EDIT - sometimes even things like the timezone settings being off can effect how things work in preferecnes.

Thanks, rbuddy. I'm going to go on the OLF zoom meeting here shortly, but I would like to take you up on your offer later today. I'll let you know after I try your suggestions.

OK Jay, my schedule today is a mess but I should be back in later today, I'll send you a PM around 4 or 5 today when I'm back on line.

Brian

Ok, sounds good. I've done the steps you suggested so whenever it's convenient for you to send a test PM is fine. Thanks.

Brian - Thanks a lot for sending the test PM. I got it, but no notice was sent to let me know I had a new PM. My junk email folder is empty so notices aren't going there. Thanks for the suggestions though. It was worth a try.

Oh, yea. The time zone setting is correct so it's not that.

Also, my email address in the settings is correct.
