Ultra light old growth sitka bracewood
Occasionally over the past 15+ yrs, we've cut some extremely light old growth sitka spruce.
Due to interest in that attribute, We started segregating the tops from those logs into their own ultra light sort in the various grades. I hadn't thought about the bracewood. But now and again I come across the light bracewood billets as we unstickered and sorted the dry pallet load of the various bracewood products, and set the few UL billets aside.
Someone would eventually request light stuff, and I would have it handy.
I've done some weighing and density calculations, comparing the standard density billets to the UL billets and find an average of 12% less/light..
as with our other sawn bracewood sorts, it is all VG cut.
If this is something that interests you.
Here's the link to the product.
