Well I finished my 1st UKE!!!!! This was a total guess!!!! I had no idea
what to do to build this one. Bought a book, emailed John Mayes, and
then adapted!!!

Intestesting story. Well when my first commission was delivered in Dec,
another collegue saw it and said. "can you make a uke" I said "I don't
know, but I can try" Well this nurse wanted one for her father who is
retiring from the military after 38 years. He loves ukes and she wanted to
have a custom baritone made for him as retirement gift. Once I accepted
the challenge, she then told me the hook!!!!!!   
IT IS TO BE PRESENTED TO HIM AT A WHITE HOUSE CEREMONY!!!!!
Ouch!!!!! Well it looks nice and I think it sounds fine, but I have NO
means of comparison!!!!
Baritone all Koa uke, EIR bridge and fretboard, red/white/and blue
purfling. MOP and Red white blue rosette. I figured I better make this
one patriotic!!!

Beautiful work and what a great story to go along with it! CONGRATULATIONS!
I too am finishing twin koa ukes and like you have never built a uke before. I would be interested in knowing specs like top thickness, action etc. if you are willing to share.

I did nothing to that Koa. That is the way it came. I bought this set of Koa
from Big Island Acoustic Koa in Hawaii. They are not Sponsors, but Josh and
Karen are great to work with. I was in need of a baritone set, but one with a
lot of curl and they would e mail me picts of what they had.
I picked this set despite it being dark, because of the patern and flame

I never burn the midnight oil!!!! unless it is at the hospital.
I don't think my neighbors would like the sound of a router late at night
considering I build in a shed next to my house. (About 30 feet from there
house!!!!!)
