Hi,

i've been hammering the new nickle creek cd and i'm absolutely blown away with them..

can anyone recommend which NC cd to get next? or infact anything in a similar vein to rock my tiny mind?

I've been attempting mandolin for a few months, and i'm loving it.

I love all their stuff and have seen them in concert six or seven times, I think. I still love their first self-titled one the best, but This Side is pretty terrific.

i think i'll have to pick em all up - i'd love to see em live.

they actually played at a folk festival that happens 20yards from my house. i couldnt go to it but i could hear NC playing as i got home one afternoon. It was actually before i got into them - and i have to say it stopped me in my tracks!!

i find it pretty inspirational in terms of working on guitars. sometimes you bust a nut doing something and the lad hardly knows which way to hold the thing, then other times you hear people play music and you remember why you got into it all those years ago...and why it HAS to be bang on!

great stuff

also check out chris thile's and shawn watkins' solo stuff. "not all who wander are lost" from chris is like you said, "mind blowing."
if you rock a tiny mind hard enough it will blow
and i'm sure it'll do just that

something about NC's stuff that is so cool about bluegrass - a sort of abstract jamming feel that really hits home. kind of a django / grapelli vibe but in a different genre.

it goes from music to direct communication into my tiny monkey brain and all the hair stands up on the back of my neck...

aint no arguing with that!
