We pore fill with Z-poxy - two coats or thereabouts until all pores are filled then a 50/50 wash coat to even out the colour if necessary.

And that's correct - two sprayed coats of the Ubeaut Hard Shellac.

John - the mahogany is Swietinia macrophylla, plantation grown in Fiji. Top is some of Shane's Lutz.

The bridge and bridge plate are Brazilian Rosewood.

Once the shellac has cross-linked (about 28 days)we use the Festool sander with 400 grit paper to flatten the finish and then use Festool 1000 grit and then 2000 Platin 2 discs. The Platin 2 is like a micromesh disc.

This is all done dry.

We have only started sanding out the finishes this way in the last few weeks since Lillian kindly organised a Festool ETS 125 for me from the States and the results are very promising.
