Hey gang!


Happy holidays to all, and thank you to everyone for all that I've gleaned from this forum over the past year.


After many late nights and a few PTO days from work, I was able to complete this GC Cutaway (my first comissioned guitar!) by Christmas as promised.  It's a Hondo RW body, WRC top, with tiger myrtle appointments (thanks, Tim!).   Many firsts for me on this guitar - the cutaway rib was pipe bent, added binding and purfling on the fretboard, continuing purfling on the headstock, and Tru-Oil finish all around.  I'm squeaking this one in by the deadline with the understanding that I get it back to buff in a week or so....and repeated visitation rights!

Sweet! Great combinations! Pickguard? In my experience True Oil and WRC
might need some extra protection.

Well done Jon!

Great use of the Tiger. That rosette looks like it was a challenge getting all the figure to face towards the centre. How did the Tiger work as bridge material?

What can I say that already hasn't been said... it's a beautiful instrument and your wood selection is outstanding. I think that I'll make Tiger Myrtle my new favorite.

Hi Tim!  It worked out really well for the bridge...guitar has nice warm tone and LOTS of sustain.  Paired it with a granadillo bridge plate and ebony pins.  I have a website in the works, but there's subfolder on it that documents this build.  In an eary group of pics, there's a few shots of the rosette coming together that might interest you (in the 11_14 folder):
