It may be that nothing went wrong. Good classicals are lightly built. It could just be age and string tension. The 1962 Hauser II that I got to examine had a good dip between the bridge and the soundhole. I’m sure Hauser knew what he was doing. Age is the only explanation for that. Remember Bill Morrissey’s song “She thought of heat, she thought of time, and called it an even trade.”

With a picture posted what can you tell about this failed build.
I realize it's not worth fixing.

-Failed design? too light construction to stand up over time.

-Mistreatment like overheating.

I'm building 2 classicals from GTT- Cumpiano's design. It discusses how to deal with the general problem.
How does it hold up over time.
