Janet Davis is located 10-12 miles N. of me and they have a good price right now on the Vintage Hardshell Guardian case. They don't stock the 00 version but said they could order it for me.

Anyone have experience with this 00 case? How well does it fit a Martin 00 14 fret body? My 00 mold came from John Hall so I'm guessing it is very close to a standard Martin body. My 00 body has a 12 fret neck (like a Norman Blake). Would this cause a problem with the fit?

Darryl, on a 000 Norman Blake style guitar that I recently finished, I purchased a Guardian 12 fret 000 case recommended from Elderly. The fit was good, except for one of the neck supports. It was located right at the base of the headstock. Fortunately I was able to remove and reshape the support to fit. So, I would suggest taking your 00 to the supplier for a test fit. Let us know if it works out.

Chuck

Darryl I just picked up one of these cases for my 00 12 fret with a Martin body shape and it fits great.

Ok, based on the feedback here, I just ordered the 00 case from JD. They have them on sale for $135 which is a good deal (no shipping for me as the store is 12 miles away but taxes added). Also, they said they wouldn't make me take it if it doesn't fit my guitar.......can't beat that.

I'll let you know how it works.

Sorry I am late to the party...but I bought one of those for my second (a blues creek mahogany 14-fret 00) and it is great!

Sounds good Martin! Mine hasn't yet come in but I'll post an update when it does.

Looks like the case will work fine. A bit of extra room at the tail end of the body but the waist fits nice so the guitar doesn't slide. With 12 fret neck on 14 fret body the neck just barely reaches over the support at the end of the accessories box.

Darryl, that's similar to the problem I had with the 000 Norman Blake size. On mine, the rest at the peghead transition was keeping the neck from touching at the lower support. I removed the screws on the side and slowly separated the support which is also glued and pinned from the sides. I had to eliminate the pins. Underneath the fabric is dense styrofoam that I cut to fit the peghead transition so the lower support was also in contact with the neck. Little bit of glue and replace side screws.

These cases appear to be the same as Guardian, just without the nameplate. I have used several 'classical' size ones for 14-fret 00's and they work fine. Not a perfect fit, but good enough.

John, that case looks identical. I gave $135 for mine so $70 plus tax is a good deal. I'll have to check on the size differences between the 00 case I have and the classical case.

Chuck, my neck seems to touch both supports (either side of the accessory compartment) but the upper bout rides slightly higher than the lower bout (maybe 1/8").
