And the knowledgeable amateurs, and the not-so-knowledgeable amateurs...

But mainly the pros! For sharing the OLF with people of all skill levels and sharing your experience to help us learn and develop and build much better guitars than we'd be able to otherwise. Every time we get an answer to a question it represents time taken out of a busy schedule, and I know I speak for every other right-thinking person who needs that help when I say we are all very grateful indeed!

Thanks to Lance of course, too!

... Just thought it needs to be said occasionally.

x 1000. I still have a long way to go, but I am definitely getting better and the generosity and support of OLF members is a huge factor in my progress.

I would like to express my gratitude as well. Without the sharing of this body of knowledge I personally would be looking at a lot of discarded parts and sawdust (none of which would resemble a guitar!).

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
