I can't find it to buy or plans to make one. I'm sure someone has one and I just need a few good photos and some dimensions. I hate to reinvent the dang thing. I have started drawing the SM one in Fusion 360. I suppose once I have that built, I can start making improvements from there. Seems a shame. I'll gladly buy the plans that no one seems to have or want to give up.

When I made one back in the day I just used this video and got it close - https://youtu.be/szTNSVtrGZc?si=emAOqIYnn0KhCcNB

And this one: https://youtu.be/RBVFtVMP9r8?si=mpd_uY4kMgKoxnk9

You can buy an O’Brien inspired one commercially now from - https://skyscraperguitars.com/store/#!/ ... /643713254

Fusion 360 for this job feels like putting on a 200lb backpack to go walk the dog.

I've got one somewhere. I'll look for it this afternoon. I've got a Simpson jig so never built it. I'll see if I can take pictures of it and send it to you. Pm me your email. The files will be too big to send them here.

Not if you enjoy working in Fusion 360.plus, I like to use my cnc as much as possible.

Right after I ordered the plans, I started looking at the eElevate jig. Looks a lot easier to make and stores easier.

Luthiertool.com. Way better than the LMI jig.

The neck jig is a decent teaching tool for a lecture or two regarding why we make final adjustments in the playing position and how relief, string tension, gravity interact with guitars who's necks may move more so than others.

But does a luthier need a neck jig. No

Ours was very good at being a catch all for my apron, cans of shellac, piles of pots waiting to be put away, etc.

After several years of tripping over ours we parted it out using the dial indicators for other tools that do get used more often such as a nut slot depth gauge.

It's a solution looking for a problem in a sense and not anything that we would integrate into how we do our actual real world work. It takes up space and ours took up a lot of space, and beyond being able to visually see the impact of gravity and how certain guitars have necks that move a lot we've never missed ours since we took it apart to use the parts for other things.

It seems like folks are talking about 2 different types of jigs here. A neck setup jig, and a neck joint routing jig. I could be wrong.

Yep, you need some kind of jig to cut the tenon and incorporate the proper cheek angle.
