I see the silhouette of a young lady. No, wait, it’s an old crone. . . A bunny . . . A duck . . . :D

Seriously, though, that’s beautiful ornamentation.

Yup, those are some mighty nice backs Marcus!

Makes me want to adorn some backs or other free space with some wood inlay, very nice work and artistry.

Are those inlays done by cnc?

The 2 on the right were CNC'd. The original plan was to make them all identical to the one on the left. After I finished the one on the left I wasn't happy with my setup and figured it would be way faster to do on my cnc anyway. So I jigged them up and change the design around a bit to make them unique.

Today is my birthday (48th) and I took the day off of work to spend it in the shop, as I do every year.

Happy birthday Brad.

I'm working in the basement too. Well, I'm drinking tea in a warm cup. It's 52 down there. It was 50 this morning.

Marcus,
I just looked at your backs; the photos don't come up on my Kindle. Very nice. I don't remember seeing ANY inlays on backs that are like rosettes. I've seen gaudy, and too much. That is just very well done.

On the Sapele. Did you tip the wood to the left to make the angled quilting square? Or is that just the way it looks? Whatever. It does look cool.

Nothing special. I just joined the plates as best I could. I wonder if the sanding lines throwing things off?

It's sanding lines.

I don't have a sander, so I never see them!
