Good idea on the wax paper, Rob. I usually use plastic bottle caps from fruit juice, etc., but if I run out... Your way will work fine. I guess some tin foil would work too.

I find the wax paper works better than aluminum foil. You can see it better.

I'll use the wax paper trick.
I wet sand with mineral spirits these days.
Had too many water issues. Veneer was the worst.
