Anyone use this Naptha replacement? It appears to contain acetone, so a non starter for plastic binding, CA, etc…

https://kleanstrip.com/tutorials/learn- ... s-solvent/

**Edit - here is the ingredient list - http://www.barringredients.com/brands/k ... ksp95000sc

Wondering if any of the more progressive states have a similar product (looking at you Cali). :)

Coleman Camp Stove Fuel……..contains Naptha. Well, actually it is Naptha.
Doesn’t answer your question but it is an alternative product.

Have you been protected from naphtha by the government? Me too!

You can buy it here Brad I have to go to Indiana to get Everclear. The sacrifices we have to make to be loofiers.... ;)

I keep naphtha on my bench I use it every day to remove all manner of crap from guitar finishes without ever worrying about harming the finish. The stuff you picture would not be trusted for much of anything in our shop.

Brad (and anyone within driving distance):

Naphtha is still sold in West Virginia. For 190 proof grain alcohol, I have to drive to Kentucky.

I found out we’ve banned denatured alcohol when I sprayed my last guitar with Royal Lac in 2022.

Whatever happened to the good old days when you could buy stuff to blow yourself up and do self harm. It won't be long and they will be banning gasoline at this rate. gaah laughing6-hehe Instead they allow manufacturers in the food industry to create ersatz foods to make us fat and destroy our metabolisms. bliss

I have begun to use isopropyl alcool to clean fingerboards and beer stains. ;-)

Less effective than naphta on caked-on finger grease, so I still turn to naphta for the tougher stuff.

I always have a jug or two of camping stove/lamp fuel. Still easy to get here. Same with lighter fluid.

Brad - I have found that in my local HD or Lowes they no longer have the quart size, but they do have the larger size...

Good call! I went down to the local hardware store and they had gallons still! I also got a serious eye roll when I informed them that Ohio changed the law and that Home Depot had already stopped selling. :)

You guys worried me so I went and checked my supply. I have a gallon can that’s at least 20 years old. It was more than half full. At my age, I think I have enough.
