FWIW, it’s just the bridge and it’s just to give a fairly specific type of retro niche sound in the manner of Phoebe Bridgers, Olivia Rodriguez etc…

Rubber bridge conversions (adding a pickup and a firm rubber saddle/bridge) of cheap guitars have been pretty popular for a bit. So new builds of the same thing make sense.

It’s a cool, distinctive sound. Similar (but not quite the same) as a nylon string folk acoustic.

Madison Cunningham (an incredible guitarist, check her out) has made good use of them. Here she is with Mumford and Sons on their new record. You can hear the rubber bridge guitar pretty clearly.

I did a conversion of a cheap guitar. It turned out great. I’ll post a pick and try to shoot a quick video playing it.
