I will build 2 mandos for my two boys. I plan to finish at least one of them.

man - you guys all made some progress on the first day !!! I for the sake of the challenge will not start till Sept./October -
although I am gathering wood this week -
(need to finish 2 other projects first...ugh...)

my tally of wood/supplies purchased so far not sure I will use it all, and this is for 2 instruments - each under $150.00, although I will try to keep both under $150.00

Rough list - will modify once I figure out what I am using from here. I am making 2 mandolins

8/1
1. maple purchased - 1x6 x 10' - $24.00
2. bloodwood - 3/4" x 7" x 13" - $3.00

8/2 - just purchased more curly maple - $20.00 even - will yield me about 5, 1 piece necks

8/9 - just purchased 2 Euro spruce tops $16.00 each,
need to let them acclimate to my shop - about 2 weeks

At this point I will start these mandos around mid- Sept - not sure if I will finish - I do not want to rush them.

doing miserable -

Still working on my prototype mando - no progress in months.

I did lots of work on our house - so that is where my time was consumed. I really doubt I will finish - but I will not give either, even if I have to post pics of a partially begun project.

Thanks for the jump start....

enjoying my newly built home theater now.... I just have to cleanup my workshop after all the home projects to be able to continue on the mandos.
And after that I start boat building :) 18' rowing wherry.
