Guys,
Just to let everyone know. My plans are to develop plans sets first a baritone then Celtic mandolin. that said the manufacturing company I work full time for, just signed a major contract with Shell of Netherlands to develop a custom pumping unit to meet ATEX and CE certification and be quiet enough to place within 200 meters of residential areas in Europe. This is no small project and we have to ship the first proto type with in a few short months. This means that the slow down in my engineering department that was expected just went out the window. I am not sure when I can get to work on plans. Please bare with me. I will get them done.

That's going to be a pretty interesting project Michael! What makes a Celtic mando a Celtic mando?

Ya never know what those West Texians are up to...........

Us East Texians bare our souls but we hunt bear. We bore our friends but hunt boar.......

Isn't English a wonderful language.

Michael - We'll hang in there with you till the cows come home! Take your time.

A removable, ventilated or air conditioned sound-proof enclosure is what you may end up with in that close proximity pump.... I've put a few around Roots type blowers.

This is a Rotafex vertical tower that has a chain and sprocket dive inside that moves a long belt over a drum at the top. The belt has a bridle on the working end that moves the sucker rod up and down on a 300" stroke. The gearbox will be driven by an AC electric prime mover. There will be an removable shack inclosing the external parts like the gearbox, breaking system and prime mover. Both the shack and tower will be coated in a spray on foam and coated with an epoxy coating system. We have been testing this part of the design for over a year and have the gearbox/prime mover noise level down to 55-60 db within 10 feet of the unit. That is a 40% reduction from the standard unit Not much can be done on the noise the rod makes as it moves in the packing of the stuffing box but that is not so bad anyway. Now we have to convert all components from NEMA explosion proof specs to ATEX and CE specs. That is a big deal mainly because most US manufactures do mot have ATEX or CE certification. So many of our components are changing to components maufactured in eourpe. This is driving many and I do mean many changes in the mounting of the components due to fit and form. It takes 1263 engineering drawings to fabricate our standard unit and about 50% of them have to be saved as new redesigned drawings due to the component changes.

Basicly it is a simple folk shape common to the Celts sort of on the order of an "A" type
