I'm confused as to why you all aren't using pumice to pore fill or trying the egg whites pore fill and why you all like to use that epoxy. Is the health risk of using epoxy compared to a finish on a guitar really worth it? I mean here you are talking about it not being toxic using Everclear as opposed to denatured alcohol and you use Epoxy. I just don't get it. One of the reasons I'm interested in FP is to get away from the fumes of Nitro. Don't take this as negitive as it's just a question. I wish I could have taken the course but being laid off makes the course out of my reach.
Edit: I see you all posted as I was writing. I'll check out the DVD as I might be able to work that into the budget.
Chris,
In the course, as well as in my Finishing DVD, I cover many different types of pore filling methods and products. I give my students the option of using whichever one they feel comfortable with and prefer and get the best results with. For some, that just happened to be epoxy. Under my FP finishes I prefer a water based or oil based pore filler.
