This is very sad news. I met Kevin through the forum and he has been a friend for quite a while. I know he has had a tough couple of years and this just takes the icing on the cake. He will certainly be missed. My condolences to his family. He certainly went before his time.

Man, even when you see it coming, it still hits like a ton of bricks.
I remember Kevin's inlay of The Lion as the finest bit of artistic execution I've ever seen on a guitar. His attitude was something like, "Yeah, that just takes a little bit longer to do...", as if he was just doing his job.
He will be sorely missed!

Steve

Exactly what I said. I knew he was sick but didn't really see it coming. Kevin was a friend and a good man. He loved the craft and was an asset to our community. I pray his wife and children will have peace through these hard times and may they find joy in knowing they will be together some day.
The Lion of Judah was indeed a special inlay with lots of meaning. I was fortunate to have Kevin make me with one of his inlays. Some day I will make him proud and display it in a truly special guitar.

we'll meet again bro,

Kevin always took time to talk with me, and that's what I'll keep ahold to. Be it psalms, karate, or tips, he was always there. I pray that his family finds peace.

Very sad news . I didn't know Kevin but have read quite a number of his posts . He came across as very generous and obviously had a deep understanding of the acoustic guitar. I will miss his presence on the forum. My condolences and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.

My prayers for the family as they struggle to go forward. RIP Kevin. Cancer is a nasty nasty disease and pancreatic cancer is one of the worst. Very few people manage to put it behind them.

Never got a chance to meet Kevin but he helped me more than once with advice when I was stuck on something. He is at peace now and I'll be praying for his family.

I'm saddened to hear this news. I've been out of circuit for a while with my usual summer duties and felt I was supposed to check in. I grieve and am praying for Paula and the rest of his family and close friends. I had the pleasure of communicating several times with Kevin and Paula via PM's and really had hope he would make it through this. Kevin, I'll see you on the other side bro!

Bill

Makes my problems seem so small.

Although I had never met Kevin, his reasoned and wise comments were so appreciated. My family's prayers are with his wife and kids.

May they find comfort and peace in this grief. And, may they know we grieve with them, they are not alone.

Very sad news indeed  ...I got to know Kevin through the AGF, and know that Paula and the kids will need a lot of support during this time. Prayers go out to them, hopefully, somehow, they will find strength in knowing that Kevin is at peace.

I'm very saddened to hear this news. By all accounts, Kevin was a very fine luthier indeed. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to Kevins family and the entire guitar community, both builders and players.

Pancreatic cancer is bad. I lost my Grandfather to it 18 years ago.

This is a sorry piece of news.

Kevin helped me a lot over the past couple of years, greatly improving my craftsmanship and boosting my general knowledge of guitar building. I am saddened by his passing but thankful for having known the man.

My condolences to the family.

Kevin's knowledge of guitar building was very impressive. But I was even more impressed by his humility and the tone in which he delivered (gifted) it. Of the many posts I read that he wrote, I don't remember any negative comments coming from his pen. Always humble. Aways gracious. Seems that I read somewhere that this is love in action.

I hope to see Kevin someday.

Sincerely,
Ed

Kevin's brother Vince ask me to post his obit on the guitar sites he frequented.

Pastor Kevin M. Gallagher, 50, of Saylorsburg, passed away surrounded by
his loving family on Friday, June 25, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in
Allentown. Kevin was the loving and devoted husband of Pastor Paula (Reed)
Gallagher. They celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary on Dec. 8, 2009.

Kevin was born in Easton on Jan. 16, 1960, the son of June (Klotz)
Gallagher of Dover, Del., and the late Vincent Gallagher.

Kevin was the former pastor at New Covenant World Outreach Church in
Brodheadsville. He also was a luthier, working from his home in
Saylorsburg.

In the midst of things we cannot understand, bring us your peace as we
remember the love that Kevin gave to this world.

He will be deeply missed by his best friend and wife, Pastor Paula
Gallagher. He was a devoted dad to his five children, Ryan Gallagher of
Philadelphia, Shaun Gallagher of Marietta, Ga., and Corey Gallagher, Andrew
Gallagher and Samara Gallagher, all of Saylorsburg. Kevin is also survived
by his mother, June (Klotz) Gallagher of Dover, Del.; mother- and
father-in-law, Pastor Marie and Pastor Stephen Reed of Sciota; two sisters,
Katherine Mary Hummer and her companion, Frank Nemeth, of Easton and
Jennifer Bloch and her husband, Jonathan, of Whitehall; two brothers,
Vincent Gallagher and his wife, Joann, of Easton and Michael Gallagher and
his wife, Carolyn, of Houston, Texas; a brother-in-law, Pastor Steven Reed
and his wife, Alicia, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Annmarie
Bell-Gould and her husband, Richard Gould, of Saylorsburg; and many nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He lived his life in appreciation and respect for the created world and for
all people, and was dearly loved by his family and many friends and will be
deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the Donald N.
Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert, with Pastor Steve Reed and Pastor
Steven Reed officiating. Viewing will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of
services Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the
convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Donald N. Gower
Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert, PA 18331.
