I live rural and driving to a hardwood supplier (nearest Woodcraft supply $$$) to pick out a possible, suitable stick is hardly worth the gas expense. I have lots of wood here...but nothing suitable for a fingerboard that size.
Any good fretboard material is fine ...it is for a chapman style finger tap instrument that will not get fret wear like a regular steel string guitar. Ebony, rosewoods, ...darker woods may be prefered...but something different Birdseye maple/ Zircote, ??? and stable would be fun too. ????? I'm only into my 5th. guitar build...so I'm still new to all this building and my confidence in a build project leans heavily on the feedback I get here on this great forum. The basic neck and slim body will be in Honduras Mahogany with complimentary color and strengthening laminates.
