I'm trying to come up with a pineapple theme tenor ukulele. I am not shaping the body like a pineapple. I will do a pineapple shape head stock. I was thinking I could route very shallow v groves in the top in a pineapple diamond pattern that I would fill with z-poxy, Then I started thinking that if I had to do any sanding I could have problems with this method. I thought of using a inlay of the same type of wood. I don't want it to be over powering.

Your thoughts.

You could cut the sound hole like a pineapple. I'm thinking severl v shapes spaced to look like the body of the pineapple. Then a more solid area for the top.

To work properly, a ukulele soundboard has to be vey thin.
IMO inlaying it will weaken the soundboard and is a bad idea

Maybe some light/shallow laser engraving?

Ditto Jeff on the inlay idea. The rosette is scary enough
How about a wood burning iron? You could do that after the final sanding
