Hi folks! Long time no see, to many of you!
Some of you from Michigan and surrounding areas might remember the Cooper's Glen Festival in Kalamazoo the last few years. It's an on-going thing that we are trying to build, and those of you who attended in the past year or so might recall the fine time we all had!
Well, things are moving forward again this year and the Festival is making some improvements as well. Bryan Galloup and I will be there and hope that many of you will make it down too! Josh From Galloup Guitars posted in the Michigan Luthiers forum, but I have copied that over here since most of you probably didn't see it there...Josh says:
Quote:
Kathy at the Coopers Glen Festival contacted me and we talked about the meeting this winter in Kalamazoo. We nailed down that it would be best to move the luthiers out in the lower level of the atrium in plain sight of all the festival goers. They liked that idea but wanted to keep the room for us to have a couple of scheduled demonstrations. Mark Swanson and I have volunteered to do the demos so that’s covered.

The show is one day Saturday the 12th of February but we are welcome to set up on Friday I think. I’ll have to check on that. They are looking to expand the luthiers portion of the festival so they’d like to add an overview of the Michigan Guild of Luthiers and a short bio on each Luthier to the program.

I think this is a good move to generate more traffic and it will put us in the same area as Elderly Instruments but I’ll have to see when we get there…..Kathy seems to be on the same page with me. The table fee is the same $35 and two free tickets. So let’s get a head count together, to get the ball rolling and let’s get the bio’s together.

All are welcome

Bryan Galloup

Hey Folks,
Why don't those of you who are going pipe up about it here, and then others who may be considering it will be able to tell who else is coming! Ok, so speak up! [clap]

Heh....I'm not sure either, and some others I have spoken to are in the same boat. But I want all to know that it doesn't matter WHAT you might bring, I will have at least one in-progress instrument and I know that a couple others are doing the same thing. That fits right in with what we are trying to do here, a luthiers' "sharing" meeting where others see the nuts and bolts of things and not just a bunch of shiny new and all finished instruments! So don't be shy- bring what you got and show yer stuff!

I'll have a few in-progress things to bring, and I will be there!

Just a reminder, I'd say we're at or nearly past last call. If you're thinking about getting a table, decide quick and get in touch with Susan or Bryan ASAP. Booked my room today, I'll be there and hope to see a few other faces as well.

Cheers,

David Collins
