I'm looking for ideas on how to display my guitars in a gallery (galleries?) on my web site.

I'm not seeing much that I like.

I'm a bit of a code guy, so I want to make sure this is iPhone/iPad compatible (which means no Flash - and probably requiring use of jquery)

I would love to see examples of what you like - heck it doesn't even have to be guitars. I just need more ideas.

When I was doing web, my blog had a cool gallery. I displayed the images as medium size thumbs, about three inches wide (I don't remember my px sizes anymore!) with a dark 10px CSS border against white background. They opened in light box. I was actually just thinking about this yesterday though. I might simply use a compelling image of the guitar linked to a public Facebook gallery for the social networking. If not, I'd display a large, high-res image, at least 1000px wide.

I'm interested in getting better with video. I think it would be neat to utilize a service like Vimeo that offers higher-res, larger playback video hosting to incorporate video galleries, or at least high-res photo slideshows. If you look up, "7 days on the John Muir Trail", there's a breathtaking photo documentary that really made me start rethinking all this.

I like the way that do it on the Collings site. The site is pretty stark looking, and they just use black backgrounds. It puts the focus on the instruments. It's simple, but they do have little animated images that sorta jump out at ya. They have videos too.

It appears you're a Mac guy, so you might be interested in Galerie. I've used it for years. It interfaces well with iPhoto, including comments. It's a bit long in the tooth, so no telling how long it will continue to work with future Mac OSs, but it's free, simple, quick and easy and doesn't use Flash. You can tweak the CSS in templates to nail down details, and it provides options for thumbnail sizes and spacing, along with other stuff, same for the photos.

I use it for documenting builds for customers to check progress, and it's easy to burn the pages to CD for those that want it.

Hi Paul,

I've built many sites so my question to you is what language and program you plan on using. There are many extensions for Dreamweaver that make it easier and have lots of options. Check out webassist.com and projectseven.com for some ideas. I've used both. On the other hand if you're using Wordpress or concrete5 then there are plenty of add-ons for those too.

Looks like the new ImageFlow is now compatible with iPhone and iPodTouch ... not sure if it's to your taste or not?

I've heard of those problems, but haven't had them myself (knock on wood). How many images did you have in iPhoto?

Filippo, what kind of solution are you looking for? Editing or gallery? I use Aperture for editing and managing.
