I have been playing around with taking some pictures with a different background inside the shop. I still have a lot to learn about lighting, etc. Anyway, here are some finished pictures of #7.

And a few sound clips that my friend Johnnie May did for me a week or so ago.
"Julia Florida", Agustin Barrios
"Danza del Gato", Carlo Domeniconi
"Rydia's Theme" from Final Fantasy IV, Nubuo Uematsu

Thanks for looking.

Very, very nice job Waddy, looks very neat and tastefully trimmed.
Sounds nice too from the sound clips, if a bit tight, but I'm sure it will open up really well with a lot of playing which I am sure it will get.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Sounds great, and the good match between the players attack and the response of the guitar can be heard, the treble notes "pop" out nice, fast and round. What do you think about how it sounds?

Thanks, guys.

Alex, I'm really happy with it. Good fast attack, and pretty good sustain, with more headroom than some of my others. #6 was the original commission, and I screwed it up. It was louder than this one, but this one has a little "sweeter" sound, and is maybe a little less loud. They are very similar in look.

Here's a teaser for #'s 8 & 9

Waddy, really, really, really nice..
Nice isn't even enough of a word here.
Soundclips sound good on my lousy mac bk.
Totally in tune, and very balanced bass and treble.
Go boy!!!!!!!

Awesome job on the binding/purflings. I love the matching heel-cap too. Elegant wood combos. Keep up the nice clean work. Jason

You folks are all so kind. I left this morning at 7:00 am, for Boone NC and the Appalachian State University Classical Guitar Festival and Competition. It is an annual event, and I've been attending for the last several years. I took my first two years ago, then last year showed 3 & 4, neither of which were for sale (my choice). I left with #'s 5, 6, and 7 in tow. I came back with #5. Jeb, picked up #7 as planned.
He wasn't ready for me to take this.

Also, a funny thing happened. I told you I messed up #6 late in the process, but it sounded so good, I just finished it up, and thought it would make a good demo. Here is the mess up.
Attachment:
P1050393 (Large).JPG

It's on the treble side, so doesn't show unless you are looking for it. Anyway, this guitar looks much like #7 except for a couple of minor differences, but this young man, Tyler, a Jr. High Student of Alan Mearns, and something of a prodigy, wanted the guitar after both he and Alan played the guitars i brought. So, even though I wasn't planning to sell it, I thought it would have a good home. He seemed really happy, and I gave him a good deal on it.

So it was a good day, sales wise! bliss

Congratz Waddy,

#7 is really nice in both looks and sound.
Alas, you #6 still weren't meant to be with u. ;)
U must be happy with #6 being able to find a good home.

Sen

Thanks again, folks. Sen, yes, I think this young man will really make an excellent home for that guitar. He is a very special young fellow. To wit, he just won the State Cello competition. His musical skills are on a different level from most of us. He's a high level talent, and a most humble and nice person.

Did some looking and came up with these YouTubes of Tyler playing his old axe.

Looking forward to seeing him play his new one! :D
