Can anyone identify it?

It is brown, has grain lines, and some figure.

Any help would be appreciated.

But if you slice it and then go through the complex process of making it tonewood, then you can charge $2534.00 per board foot.

If you can chew it and swallow it....it's balsa.

If you have really strong teeth and you can chew it and swallow it....it could be anything.

I dont think I can identify it but I have to compliment you on your photography. It really captures that "translucent" quality of the wood.

Two guys are standing in the kitchen of the one guys newly purchased house, debating what kind of wood the floor is made from. The one guy says he thinks its pine, the other guy isnt so sure, and thinks its fir. As they are having the debate, the home owners two year old daugther walks by, and upon hearing the conversation, pipes up and says "Daddy, this is not fur .... its wood."

I am logged in, but you guys must be seeing something I am NOT seeing, 'cause there aren't any wood pictures on my screen. Or maybe you're all just being clever with your responses. No icons for pics or wood pics that I can see. What I do see is a url, which I clicked. No mystery wood pics that I can find there, either. I would like to see these wood pics, but I guess the technology gremlins are doing their mischief this evening. Maybe you're all having the same results I am having. Maybe our poster forgot to attach an image. Who knows? Not me. Oh well.......

You have to email Lance to get into the special group. He likes to keep the group just to a select few (the ones you see posting here) - so just tell him that you plan to post more and join the classifieds, and to have him put you in the "Privledged Luthier Group"
