I strung this one up yesterday. It's number 7. I built it for a friend and I'm dropping it off to her in about an hour.

Top: Engelman Spruce
Back, Sides & Neck: Honduran Mahogany
Fingerboard: Madagascar Ebony
Headplate & Bridge: Macassar Ebony
Bindings, Heel Cap & End Graft: Curly Maple

Still some cosmetic flaws but it sounds pretty good. Not as much bass as I'd hoped I think because I made the sound hole a bit too big by mistake. Hopefully, the next one will be better.

Here's a few pictures. Sorry about the quality. I'm a lousy photographer.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
