I'm sorry to have offended you by my comments. It didn't occur to me to send you a PM rather than post on the forum. The content I found offensive was posted in public on the forum and others were responding in kind. So I felt my comments should be public. It's a public issue, in my opinion, not limited to only those two posts by you.

i spent all last evening and this morning taking advantage of the mild weather to put the final shellac and nitrocellulose laquer on my cigar box ukelele. granted, it is a crude project but i still put a huge amount of time in to it.
anyway, i just put the last coat on, and hung it from a wire in the warm green house. and when i turned my back, one end of the wire pulled out, and it came crashing down to the ground (cypress mulch) with wet laquer on it. didn't break, but looks like i'm going to have to find the near-impossible rattle can shellac and rattle can nitrocellulose laquer, and spend many hours redoing it.

it aint the size of the oops , its the dangit factor in the oops that gets us all !!

So far I have done no guitar building but instead remodeled my little one room shop. OMG what have I gotten myself into? So I made a new work bench and started building it up when I realized that one of the four legs was an inch shorter than the others. Doh! No biggie though.

I think you are selling yourself short. You left three legs too long - thats three times worse, I think.

I put a rosette into a cedar top with CA (because I was in a rush and didn't want to go get the TiteBond from in the house) and it seems the channel wasnt fully sealed and the CA soaked into the end grain. The rosette was a pieced together job I made from some very spalted maple. Hopefully I can salvage the rosette, but I think the top is a goner. Here is a pic of the rosette on the top, I had not routed the channel yet in this pic. Also, a piece fell off the end of the rosette and I had vacuumed it up, but I found it and reattached it. Then broke it off again while trying to plane the rosette flush to the top. I went to bed after that. Too many disasters in one night for me.

Well FML! I was planing the sides after glueing them to the blocks and also to the top of my adi/sapele O-14 fret . Well I accidentally dropped it while moving it, no big deal, right? So I go to pick it up and a clamp falls on the top and completely destroys the guitar. Time to start over: this is going in the fireplace! I'm a little pissed to say the least.

I DID a nice one while routing binding slots, thinking I'd get it close to the cutaway area, or actually not thinking at all at that point (the darn router was so loud), I managed to rout a slot on the fretboard edge, grinding away metal fret ends along with some nice blood wood binding already there. ... Since repaired, but so much for installing all frets before glue down...

This was a " perfect" example of what I wanted this thread to be . We all have " Doofus" moments point is , they all shouldnt be hopeless and if a guy is willing to admit his moment and share it . He will Probably get the help he needs to save it !

And it also shows the"lurkers" that we all have those moments and speaking up and joining us is a better way to get support and help !
