Over the past couple of years I've gotten to know Scott Erickson who is a young man (like me) who is going through his second bout with kidney failure. Not having a kidney to give him, I decided to give another part of myself to help his situation. In order to help with his compounding medical expenses, I've donated a guitar to be raffled for him. 200 tickets have been printed at a price of $20 each in the hopes of raising $4000.

Sales here in town have not been going real well, but a posting like this to luthiers has sparked some much needed ticket sales.

I'm asking you to consider buying a raffle ticket for this instrument.

If you'd like to see the guitar, it is on display at the Music Connection here in Forest Lake, MN. You can also get tickets there. You could also PM me for tickets and I'll make arrangements to get your name in the drawing.

The drawing will be held on Saturday, November 26.

Here is a link about Scott and his battle.

This is a link to a thread about the instrument here on the forum.

Thanks for considering this,

Gawd, they still make checks? I haven't filled out a check in years. How about PayPal?

I know, lame huh? I'm just trying to keep up with the 21st century. My philosophy is Kurzweilian (Ray Kurzweil), we will soon transcend into Singularity. (I'm starting to sound like the Padma.... duh )

It is definitely a good cause -- talk to the owner of Acoustic Guitar Forum (the AGF). It has a huge user base and at $20 for a chance to win the guitar -- I think you would get a heck of a lot of raffles sold.

Sorry Hutch,
No Paypal for this one.
Cash or checks only.

Hope you can make that work.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello All,

Any news on how the Scott Erickson turned out? Hopefully a ton of money was raised for a great cause.

Hey all,

We held the raffle last Saturday and Scott's niece picked out Janelle Kendrick's ticket. She was very excited about winning and will be giving the instrument to her son who plays for church services at his college.

All told, we raised about $2000 for Scott!

We don't have a picture of her yet but here's a shot of the magic moment with myself (holding the guitar) Scott and his niece.

Thanks to everyone here who helped out. We received quite a few checks from our members and I'll always remember and be thankful for the way you folks stepped up and helped out.

Thanks,

Dave
