As some of you may recall, I posted a thread in the classifieds earlier trying to sell some Cherry and Maple neck blanks that I (unfortunately) paid close to $100 for. I was trying to make my money back, which went over about as well as a fart in church. Oh well, live and learn, I guess.

Anyway, I still have them, and in the spirit of Christmas, I would like to give them away to someone who can put them to good use! The only catch is that you have to pay for shipping (from Canada, postal code t2j7c7), and you also have to promise to do something nice for someone else in return. Easy enough, right?

I will try to get some pictures up soon if these blanks aren't spoken for too quickly, but in the meantime, you'll just have to take my word on this stuff. :D

Cherry blank (36" x 6" x 2") - This piece of Cherry is really nice. I took a couple hours sorting through the piles of it at the local lumber yard, and this was the only piece I could find with zero pitch pockets, so it will make totally clear necks. The piece is rift-to-flat-to-rift sawn, and will work well for two piece laminated necks. If you don't mind using a contrasting center line, you could potentially get twice as many necks out of this piece by cutting it in to two 1" thick pieces before laminating.

Maple blank (55.5" x 6" x 1") - Another nice piece of clear, dead flat sawn hard maple. This can be used as-is (flat sawn) for electric guitar necks, or laminated for acoustics. I can cut this in to two 27.75" long pieces if someone only wants one, or to make shipping easier.

Anyway, to make this easy, if you would like something, post so in this thread. Everything will be on first come-first serve basis.

Thanks for looking everyone! :)

Free is always good! I'll let this go to someone else, though. I have quite a bit of cherry, maple , elm and other stuff left over from cabinetry jobs to keep me in native woods for necks. Wood must be pretty dear out your way. I can get close to 20' of 2" x 6" cherry for $100.

Haha, I believe you are right! I guess that number is a little misleading since it includes a little bit of cherry I am keeping for myself (about 26" x 6" x 2"), but either way, it was super expensive. At least I ended up with the best piece there. :D

This sounds like a great idea! I think I want to give it a try. Never worked with cherry before :) Unless someone else has already taken advantage of the offer
