I am kicking this off a bit earlier cause I may be busy next week laughing6-hehe

I have changed the Name a Bit , " Doofus Move " and for 2012 ( started with Joe Hill this Month ) The previous winner should send the new winner a INEXPENSIVE prize that lends itself to the story or " Doofus Move" if Possible .

 " I kicked this off with sending Joe a Bottle Of Super Glue " laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Plan Ahead and start Those 2012 duh Moments AND PLEASE EVERYONE BE SAFE !

I got the sides all bend and the rims glued up. I had the tail block and neck block set in just right.......When I unclamped it I discovered that each side was almost an inch too long. Perhaps I should measure more carefully next time...... duh

I made a cool tuner hole drilling guide for classicals - which I used with much success on my first. I used it again yesterday and discovered I had it turned upside down, after I drilled all six holes ! Now I have to find the plug cutter and plug my misplaced holes. [headinwall]

A few hours ago, I accidentally knocked my dad's (almost) brand new laptop off the counter, and the screen cracked in a "V" shape directly from the middle up to each corner, so it's toast. wow7-eyes [headinwall] I'm dreading how much this is going to cost to fix. [uncle]

And if you're wondering where this ties in to lutherie, I was browsing this forum when it happened.

So, I finally resolved some issues I had been having with my bending set-up; bought a new thermometer, stainless slats, adopted Todd's method of using craft paper to provide just enough moisture. The stuff bent like butter! Bent my first cutaway simply and accurately and it held its shape well. Then, I realized I had bent it (the second side) inside out!!! Aaaaaargh!

Not the end of the world but it was some nice rosewood with strong grain lines and the complete mis-alignment at the tail end of the guitar is going to mock me for ever... oops_sign

All CA is graciously accepted, Keep the skivies, mine made a nice rag. WudWerkr, depending on the model of the laptop, and if you do the work yourself, Start at $99.00 - $175.00 or <. If a tech does it count on an extra $100.00 an hour more or less, the bet is more. Be glad it's Dad and not father in law. I highly doubt it is how you wanted to start the year... [clap]

This is why everyone should keep a video camera rolling constantly. A video of this would get a bajillion hits on youtube and probably make you rich and famous (or at least a laughing stock!) :D

Not me - brings back too many embarassing memories - back in October I superglued my fingers together at 1AM. Wasn't about to wake my wife up to find the fingernail polish remover, so I waited until morning. She didn't even bat an eye when I asked her where it was at 8 AM...... laughing6-hehe

Bleeding in and of itself is not a dufus move. It's a matter of what led to the skin incursion that may or may not qualify you.

Well, I decided to sand some headstocks last night. Including one for a custom build. This was supposed to have a greenfield shape and not my shape, but I sanded mine instead! This was a custom neck from hanalei moon. I have to ask if he'll live with the different shape. Otherwise it's a redo gaah

Btw, Scotch and guitarbuilding don't mix [headinwall]
