My son-in-law's Taylor CE314 was knocked over onto a hardwood floor (he now knows to always put guitars in cases!) and it broke in two at the neck. It is not worth the cost of a professional repair, but having built several instruments and being a woodworker generally, I think I might be able to effect a repair. The break is fairly clean in most respects. However, this is a CE which has a pickup right inside the neck joint. Also, Taylor's joinery technique is not traditional, and I would sure love to see a pic of how it is supposed to look! In particular, I can't figure out how the pickup is supposed to be oriented. Also, there is some sort of allen head adjustment screw that apparently goes into the underside of the neck from inside the box that I cannot seem to get oriented. Any help?

At the link below, if you scroll about 2/3 of the way down the page you'll see some photos of the Taylor neck joint system from several angles. Hopefully it will be of some help.

I'm not sure I completely understand your description. got some pics for us?

There is a bolt inside that holds the fretboard extension down to the body. Is that what you are referring to?

There is more than one version of the expression system, and the NT neck itself has undergone some changes over the years, but there is a picture at this URL. Maybe it will help.

You might try googling for "taylor NT neck

Thanks --googling 'taylor neck' didn't do much...I'll try NT Neck.
Even what you sent is helpful. Thank you.

Get a stick of dynamite, and your Taylor neck.

Light the Dynamite, back away, wait for the neck to explode, and take a picture.

That is not an adjustment screw. That is how the fretboard extension is fastened to the top of the body. This is Taylor's complete bolt on neck. Many independent builder also use a similar neck attachment.

Send it back to Taylor for a new neck. Getting it to fit right in that CNC'd pocket is going to be a nightmare.
