... with ebony knobs and mat silver baseplate!

Hi all,

I usually use Schaller by default on my classicals and flamencos, but one of my customers, who does likes the Schaller with ebony knobs, would like something less 'flashy' than the Schaller nickel plated baseplate. I have found some Gotoh that are almost there, albeit the baseplate is gold (mat gold, but gold nonetheless).

Does anybody know of a brand of tuners that would fit these specs?

Thanks!

Here is a link to some Rubner keys, including a matte silver with black keys.

Alessi offers "White Brass" (Nickel silver I think).

You could probably custom order something similar to these "Sanfeliu" tuners (albeit plainer i would assume) with Ebeny buttons.

Around $500.00

Thanks guys!

Alessi are definately too expensive, but some of the Rubner might do the trick. I'll submit that to my customer and see were it takes me.

If anyone else has some suggestion, keep'em coming!

Gotoh have a number of tuners that have the XN (x-nickel) finish ... you can order any of them with ebony buttons - call Gary At Heinl's 416 363 0093 to see what he may have in stock.

some of the models are:
35G510S - these look cool
35G510MF
35G510AM

Thanks Tony.

I didn't think of checking directly at the Gotoh web site. I think that should de it.

I really like the silver toned look.
20 years ago when Irving Sloane was still making his tuners personally I ordered a silver plated set with ebony buttons.....they were really nice.
A few years later once Stew Mac took over production they made up a few silver plated samples as well but never offered it as an option.
Gold, brass and bronze seem to predominate the finish on tuners these days but I really like the nickel and silver.

I have an old set of NOS Landstorfers with genuine MOP buttons in silver which I'm saving for a special project (most likely a Black vs White themed guitar) using an almost black set of Brazilian that I have with wide straight borders of white sap wood. Gold just wouldn't do for that one......

We (Bow River Specialty Woods) carry Gotoh tuners, too, and I'm happy to special order whatever you would like, Alain. Send me your email and I'll send you a .pdf of the catalogue if you wish, or you can download it off our site.
