Anybody got a favorite? I use Hercules stands on stage and as wall hangers in my house, but wondered what y'all are liking these days for displaying your wares at shows.

Hercules stands are great and we have a triple and single stand that we use on stage for performing...... the best!
......however they are uglier than the underside of a sludge pump.

For shows I have several Slayframe stands which I think combine the best combination of looks, stability and portability.

Google Slayframe by Duane Slaymaker.

I am using some small aluminum fold ups made by K&M, called the Memphis Travel stand. small and light yet sturdy.

I've used small K&M ones too and I like them. Very compact when folded and more secure than they look.

More importantly, will they react with lacquer or shellac?

Neat!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Some great options here! The K&M looks like a great, economical option with great reviews. The Cooperstand looks WAY cool, made of sapele, and still not a bad price for the extra cool factor and the quality looks very nice. Definitely something worthy of accompanying a custom guitar in a show. Do you find them to be pretty stable? The Slayframe looks very nice - bulkier and more expensive, but looks very stable.

The Slayframe reminds me - someone one here, I think, was making their own stands along those lines a while back weren't they? Anybody remember? Would be a piece of cake to build one you got the template worked out.

Does anyone have a plan for a wooden guitar stand? Good if there are a lot of scrap wood..

To date I have had no issues, and I use one for my personal guitar 24-7( except when I am playing it of course)
