first one with Gore inspired bracing...sounds fantastic..louder than my other guitars and has great sustain...has compensated nut and the saddle will be compensated after settling up a day or so ....finish is Em 6000 over z poxy with one coat of z poxy on soundboard.

Nice looking guitar.
Bracing looks quite a lot stiffer across the body than Trevor's Falcate design.
Good to see people playing with the ideas in the book.
As I remember, Trevor says at the end that if the book encourages people to have their own ideas and try different things, then it has done it's job.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Looks beautiful Wes!! [:Y:] I love the look of the bubinga back and sides. What did you use for the bindings?

The top bracing is very intriguing too. How did you handle the carbon fiber under the x braces where they cross?

Would love to hear a sound clip once she settles in.

thanks ...the bindings are amazon rosewood...I just overlapped the carbon fiber tow once wetted it works in just fine, on these braces I did radius the bottom. the braces are appox. .350 high at the x the lower ones are .310 and .275 in the center at the highest point, all braces .250 wide.

Nice work!

Are the braces solid bent or built in layers?

Braces are 2 piece laminated Adirondack spruce bent on a mold with a blanket
