I finally got the pictures of the new guitar taken today, not the greatest camera work but it at least shows the guitar.

This has been a strange build as my customer wanted a lot of different things and woods but it has finally come together.

Bloodwood back, sides, bridge, fingerboard, rosette and peghead veneer.
Port Orford cedar top
Ebony binding

Actually I thought it would be more red, the bridge, fingerboard and back and side set are from different boards and sources and the color seems to be the same. When I went to glue on the original bridge I had made I discovered a crack so had to replace it, I ordered 3 bridge blanks from LMI hoping to get a decent match. All 3 were different shades of the red/brown, the one I used was the most red and matched the original and fingerboard best.

Plenty of variations on red there! I guess I was lucky with the plank I got; too narrow for two piece backs but easy to match at the edges, well quartered and nicely red, which was what it was about on the red guitars I built. Really dense, though; about 1000kg/m^3 and very, very hard. Excellent for a red fretboard.

This one is redwood/bloodwood, bloodwood bridge and bloodwood fretboard. Killer projection.

Very nice Fred! [:Y:] I have found that bloodwood can be all over the place as far as color goes. Some can actually mimic mahogany. Bet you spent alot of time on that top.

Nice work! That black top looks so cool! Not a hint of a ragged edge at the purflings & rosette. (An area I still have to work on with a tinted finish.)

Nicely done Fred! I like the combos. How were the sides to bend? I've heard Bloodwood can be a dog to bend due to it's propensity to crack. And you did a Venetian with it, so maybe that's all just a wives tale.

Bending was ok with supersoft II but I had trouble finding a good set of sides, went through several to get a good set, Pete and Bob at RC tonewood bailed me out on the sides. My opinion on bloodwood is it likes to split and splinter parallel with the grain. I got some nice slivers from it also.
