So I finally finished my latest. Its a OO size in all mahogany. I got to pick through the 2nd's pile at Hibdon Hardwoods for the wood so it isn't all matching mahogany. Still pretty nice stuff though and the sound is great. Its much louder and balanced than I thought a mahogany top guitar would be. Good problem to have anyway

Top/Back/Sides. Mahogany
RW fingerboard 25.4 scale
Curly maple binding
Rosette/headstock/butt patch: some curly mahogany scrap I had around. 16 segment rosette with a shell center

This project has been delayed delayed delayed from the start. Spring yard work came early and then I was traveling all over for work, then it was too dang hot all summer to work on. Sure glad it came out well after all the waiting.

That looks really nice. I’d love to hear a sound clip. Is it regular OO bracing, or did you do something different for the mahogany top?

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Nice job, Kevin! I think small-body mahogany top guitars are highly UNDER-rated. They are very bluesy little devils!
