Has anyone tried the inexpensive Der Jung tuners made in China? I ordered a set out of curiosity and they were nicer quality than I expected, except that the shafts are not quite 10mm. They are closer to 9.5mm. What effect will the smaller shaft size have if I mount them in a head with holes that are 10mm?

If you mount them so the rollers bear against the side of the hole nearest the nut you should be fine. A quarter of a millimeter all the way around for clearance shouldn't hurt anything.

The roller diameter isn't much of an issue, but the machining is a little rough. The base plates are plated steel. Overall, even the cheapest Gotohs are a better functioning tuner.
