Does anyone know the depth at the neck and butt for a Nick Lucas?

Those dimensions are not correct for the original NL that he used but I suppose they are for the following and more currently popular model.

"...Gibson Nick Lucas Special built between 1928 and 1938. These guitars measure 4 1/4" at the neck and 4 5/8" at the endpin while the back and tops are the same size as the other L Gibsons ( ie. L 00 ) ...

...(Some sources state that it's 4 1/16" and 4 3/16" resp. for 12-fret models FWIW.)..."

So a 1934 Nick Lucas, heel 3-29/32", end block 4-11/16", between 1928 & 1938, 4-1/4" & 4-5/8", and some sources 4-1/16" & 4-3/16" for 12 fret models? From what I understand of Gibson's manufacturing process at the time these could all have been built a week or two apart. laughing6-hehe

I'd have to look in my file but Im pretty sure that the one NL played had a 13 3/4" lower bout, 8" waist and 10 1/8 upper bout. It was 18 3/4 long sporting an 24" scale neck. Oh and it was a 12 fretter.

There is a 1926 in my area and it measures 5" x 4.75". Its one of the best vintage guitars that I have ever heard. Extremely lightly built BTW and an X braced model.

There are four distinct Nick Lucas versions, in addition to different back and side woods.
Small body, 12-fret, mahogany (to 1928)
Large body, 12-fret, mahogany (1928-31)
Large body, 13-fret, rosewood (tailpiece and movable bridge) (1932-33)
Large body, 14-fret, rosewood (1934)
Large body, 14-fret, mahogany (1934)
Large body, 14-fret, maple (1934-37)
Here are the overall depths of my 1937 maple Nick #95178:
Neck = 4.250"
Waist = 4 435"
Butt = 4.650"

In addition to all these, there was at least one 14-fret small body Nick, because that is what Nick himself played in later years.

Hi-yah!
How about what Bob Dylan played. Customer wants a guitar that sounds like BD's 13 fretter.

When making a 13 fretter, is it just as simple as pushing the entire bracing layout one fret's distance so the bridge/x/tbar's relationship remains constant?
