Just wanted to say that Gilmer Wood has some amazing Malaysian Blackwood back/side sets for sale -- the prices are extremely low for the quality as you would normally pay about $100 more per set. I bought 4 of the best sets they had a few weeks ago when they first milled the sets and now most of what I would consider the mastergrade stuff is gone but there are still several extremely nice sets available. I can't believe this stuff didn't sell out earlier. The stuff I received is easily some of the nicest tonewood I've ever encountered.

wow - my kind of zoot. I live the spiderwebbing on the sides. Those inky black lines are gorgeous. If I had more $$ than zoot right now, I'd buy one.

Oh dang, giving away my favorite wood supplier. Gilmer is top notch IMO and always has a great stock of beautiful wood. I've also been eye balling their Malaysian blackwood the other day. Really nice stuff.

This is where I get most of my pear wood for my furniture projects.

Did you get the set that had sap wood through the back? Were those first sets figured? The pictures looked like they had almost a quilt figure.

You can see the sets I picked up by following this link (I have two older Malaysian Blackwood sets that came from different suppliers). I also picked up a mastergrade Mun Ebony billet a few months ago and recently resawed it into back/sides -- Mun Ebony reminds me a lot of Malaysian Blackwood (both often tend to have a lot of green in them).
