Hi! I was wondering if anyone has the rough dimensions for the neck and tail block on an archtop..... Maybe out of Bendetto's book?

Thanks!

Richard

Tailblock 4"x1"x a bit more than the rim depth
Neckblock 3"x1.5"x a bit more than the rim depth

In his book Benedetto specifies 3x3x1 3/4" for headblock. Rims can be anything from 2 3/8" (for a 2 3/4" deep guitar) to 2 7/8" (for a 3 1/4")
You should really get the book if you're building.

Dave is correct it should have been 1.75". The hazards of responding via my phone. Like Dave said the rim depth can vary but it seems the default side depth of an archtop these days is 3". So subtract 3/8" for the thickness of the plates and you get the rim depth. I make my blocks about a 1/16" taller than my rims so I only have to trim up 1/32" on either side.
