I'm in the process of building a binding jig but would like some opinions on what the best design is. Either, the Williams type jig ( moving the router around the guitar body) or the stewmac jig ( moving the guitar thru the router jig) .I have lots of space so that is not a factor. Appreciate any evaluations.

You'll find tons of opinions on both if you search the archives, as I'm sure you know People seem generally to like the one they went with (big surprise). I like the Williams (which, you know, is the one I went with )
(ps This is the perfect question for a poll, if we had that option.)

Agee with Dave. I've only tried one design, the Williams type, and because of the effort going into building the jig, I haven't made a comparison with any other. It does take some room and I'm space limited so it is a pain to set up and take down, but probably only takes 30 minutes or so. Like Casey, I've got the SM bits and bearings, but I use a Colt router.

I built a Ribbecke style (kinda like the stew Mac) station in my shop. Bought routers for each cut. It's mounted directly to the wall so it's very stable. Never comes down, never needs to be set up. Worse you ever have to do is change a roller if you need a different depth cut. With the routers out of the jig and wall mounted, the bench it's on is still useable as a work bench....
