Hi Guys,

In light of this big dehumidifier recall, of which my model is affected (turned it off, filed the claim, now have to wait for info), I need to get a new dehumidifier. I was running a SoleusAir 70 pint, which as I said was affected by the recall (see recall thread).

Anyway, I have a small shop, 10x15, 9.5' ceilings, and need to get a dehumidifier before the humid weather comes back to the NorthEast. Any recommendations? Searched web, and alot of bad reviews, but hard to find anything good that is not alot of $.

Thanks!

Glenn

I run one of these. I know it's way more machine than you need but it's a great product. It easily holds my 800 sqft basement shop at 45% RH.

That is a nice looking unit. Any information on the maximum room size it is recommended for? I couldn't seem to find that info on the site. I'm moving into a 1600 sqft shop with high ceilings and humidity control will be more of a challenge when spring rolls around next year.

Thanks

Josh

After my LG failed for the 4th time (still under warranty--each time it was replaced), I bought one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Oasis-D-165-HG-GS ... humidifier
It is not "Energy Star." When I measured the current it used to keep my shop at 40%, it drew about 20% more than the LG it replaced. But, I put a box fan at its lowest speed blowing at it (and switched with the same independent humidistat (http://www.amazon.com/Dayton-1UHG3-Humi ... humidistat)) and the combination draws less than the LG Energy Star unit did. So far, after 4 months, it is working fine. It is much better built than the Chinese ones and it has a 5 year warranty which I hope to not have to invoke. I have had at least one from every Chinese manufacturer. None of the Chinese dehumidifiers outlasted its warranty. I had a Samsung that was a decent unit. It outlived its warranty by 18 months. It is no longer available. I have the last LG replacement stored in case this Oasis unit fails. The last time the LG failed, I had to stop work for 2 weeks until I got a replacement.

Anybody have history with this one? I think I will actually get the 3 year extended warrenty on it, these things in general seem to fail frequently regardless of manufacturer.
