i never saw so myself filippo, but i let someone more knowledgeable do the answering. i´ve seen lots of skew/rift sawn necks though.
anyway, since flatsawn it will move more (laterally) with RH fluctuations, maybe it will follow ebony more closely that way?

I have seen many Spanish guitars built with completely flatsawn Spanish cedar, all the way from Torres to Miguel Rodriguez. The grain was so dead-flatsawn in most instances that it makes me wonder if it was selected for this orientation.

Filippo-

Most folks now use quartered (or close to it) neck stock but I have noticed that a lot of the 50+ year old Spanish guitars have flatsawn necks. Once dry, Spanish cedar is very stable wood - moreso than Honduran mahogany. I wouldn't have a problem with using what you have.

Take a look here and check out the older guitars - you'll notice lots of cathedral grain in the necks. http://www.guitarsalon.com/archive.php

I have a large quantity of very flat sawn 2" Spanish cedar as well.
Was thinking I could join it up (a la' this Romanillos ) to make a very vertical grain neck.
