Hello all,
With regards to acoustics, and classicals:
Is it the general practice to glue the ends of the transverse braces on the tops to the inside of the sides? I was thinking that with regards to classicals, and flamenco guitars, greater volume might be attained by letting the ends float, using the braces just to keep the tops flat, not to bond them to the sides, allowing the top to vibrate more.....what do you think...
John

You do not want your UTB to float. Anchor it.

The Meddler has sent you on the right path, that brace helps to stop the neck from pitching forward and the top from caving in from string tension. No place to skimp on structure.

Now if you redesign the neck joint so you could eliminate the UTB...
