How do I remove plastic bindings that have been attached with super glue?

I hate CA glue... Personally I don't think it has any place in guitar building... but HEY... thats just me. About the only thing I use it for is to fill in slots in a bone nut.

If you are trying to save the binding then it is going to be tedious and difficult but it can be done with an X-acto blade. I have used a #2 to and a head set magnifier to cut the finish along the edge of the binding all around the top and bottom of the binding where it meets the wood. Then at the seam start lightly prying it with a flat chisel X-acto blade and work your way around being very careful not to pull wood. Then use the same chisel blade to scrape the channel clean.

Or the easy way and use a router and a binding jig to route them off.

Plastic binding is cheap, why save it? I would just route it off as Robert just said.

As crazy as it sounds I did have a client that insisted that I save the old bindings.

@Bernie Stew Mac sells glue that is just for plastic bindings which I think is just plastic model cement. The difference is the ST stuff is 3 X the price... laughing6-hehe

Cheers

I have nothing to add about removing the bindings (other than a +1 for routing them off, if there's no reason to save them), but you may find this thread helpful for your choice of glue:
