I will be finishing up my 3rd guitar in the next couple of weeks and looking ahead to what's next. I have learned a lot over the last 18 months but want to take some time to immerse myself to learn more about the craft. Considering taking Sergei De Jong's 5 week course this year and am interested to hear from folks that have taken it.....

Sergei is the real deal, a bare-knuckles-no-excuses luthier. Take the opportunity to learn from him if you can.

I got my start as a luthier with Sergie's course 10 years ago. It gave me a good foundation to build on.

I also got my start with Sergei. He gives a great perspective that allows for common sense building- not a lot of fancy, expensive fixtures. The jigs and fixture you do use can easily be made at home (for the most part) and are pretty straight forward. I took hundreds of photos and 30+ pages of notes that I still reference to this day. Without them, I would probably still be in the dark. I highly recommend his course.

That's beautifully put Frank ... perfect description of one of the finest luthiers of our generation. Not only that, but him and his entire family are some of the most welcoming people I've ever met!
