Ok so i'm building a neck and going to install Allied's dub action truss rod.
I also thought I would try LMI's pultruded carbon tubes just because I happen to have some. But then, after thinking it over, I was starting to wonder if it is a good thing.
My question is:
Will one affect, interfere, cancel, no effect, etc. the other or will everything be just fine?

Strengthening a neck with Carbon Fibre is primarily dependent on two factors

-cross sectional area of CF used
-location of CF

These tubes located next to the truss rod, pretty much on the neutral axis, will do very little, certainly will not interfere with the action of the truss rod.

I can't comment on the pultruded tubes. I use the Allied rods and install a CF rod on either side of the truss rod. I use CF that is .125 wide and .325 high. Each CF rod is spaced .125" on either side of the TR channel.

The neck still responds to the TR adjustment. I find that the CF stiffens the neck and helps it to hold the adjustment I set it too.

So to answer your question, I think everything would be just fine for you.

I have done exactly as Josh for the last 10 years and have had the same experience. 1/8 x 3/8 bars 1/8 on either side of the rod. (LMI/ Allied/ Blanchard style two way)

When I started running them across into the headstock it seemed the neck got a little stiffer. I started leveling with a little tension on the rod just to be safe.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll put the tubes away for now (that's a lot of routing and they don't feel all that stiff to me) and get some regular CF or even just shear some alum at work.
