Is this ok for slats?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brushed-Stainless-Steel-Magnetic-430-Sheet-Plate-9-1-2-1-5-2-0-Guillotine-Cut-/291026367918?pt=UK_BOI_Metalworking_Milling_Welding_Metalworking_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item43c285f5ae

If so, would anyone be kind enough to let me know what thickness they should be?

And if anyone in the UK knows of somewhere to get heat blankets for a good price, I'd appreciate the tip!

Thanks,
Nick

I have an eBay heated bender from China. It has a digital temperature controller and works perfectly. It cost me about £90 including delivery.
Unfortunately it is not currently on eBay.

The commercially available strips are 0.5mm thick.

There is a heating blanket currently on eBay. It's not cheap at £58 but is cheaper than any I have found on offer in the U.K. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Keenovo-Silic ... 3f307842c8
This is one U.K supplier so you will get some idea of costs. http://www.omega.co.uk/pptst/SSHB_Series.html

Thanks Anthony! Funny, I was searching for 0.6 and struggling, why didn't I think to search for 0.5?!

Is that Keenovo one from China ligit or a knockoff? I checked Omega and they say 11 weeks! Price is fine,

I got you Arnt, I thought you had meant you cool it down by putting water on it for that purpose. I think i could in theory just use a thermometer we have for the oven to check the temp and cut the power when i hit the point i need it to be at. I will want to in the future have more control over it though. Could i pick up one of the PID thermal regulators and try to wire it myself? Would have to ask someone with some more experience with wiring, as i never touch wiring unless it has to do with guitars... It looks like i would need to wire it for a power for the blanket, coupler to the pid and two switches.

Thanks for that! Very kind.

Hopefully they deliver within the time they state. If I order it and it takes 50 days then I'll be annoyed. Maybe the 20-odd quid for 8-10 day delivery makes sense. Ali Express doesn't get good reviews. I may buy it on eBay tonight.

I need to work out where to get a "controller". Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

There are lots of used models out there. You could try Craigs List. Or the Classifieds in your local news paper. :D
