Any issues with Macassar Ebony related to various glues? Is hide glue OK or do I need to use Titebond 3 or Gorilla? Is cleaning glue surface with a solvent beneficial?

I used HHG for the head plate, fingerboard & bridge with Macassar Ebony no problem at all. As an aside Titebond III is not what you want to use on a guitar.

I am doing back and sides with macassar, so I will be glueing macassar to basswood linings, spruce linings, mahogany back braces, maple bindings. Hide glue still OK?

You will be fine with hide, or almost any other commonly used instrument glue (I use hide and fish glue mainly). Macassar is not a dificult wood to glue.

Avoid Gorilla glue and Titebond 3 for general builder. The only places I use those glues in my build is when gluing carbon fibre rods into my necks (Gorilla glue) and when gluing my purfling to my binding (Titebond 3). I want to be able to bend my binding/purfling glue ups in my side bender and Titebond 3 being heat and water resistant makes it an ideal glue for that operation. Also I don't believe that cleaning a surface with solvent is ever necessary with any wood.
