Fred, strange question, but...does it beep?

Yes, can be mounted on it's side.

Shane, what was your final price? With shipping?

And FWIW, Wynn Envoronmental sells replacement filters the will chew the sub micron, turning it into a right proper HEPA style filter...

Ed, shipping is $29.99 so the unit is about $163 USD delivered with spare filters. There will be a brokerage charge from UPS of $11.99. I am also sure that there will be a GST charge as well. Anyway, I ordered an extra inner and outer filter as well and one is on back order so I told them to hold the unit and ship it all together as I am just wiring the garage for 220 right now anyways.

Shane

Thanks. I discovered the shipping charges when I went through checkout. After exchange, I've decided that it might be a better bet just to buy it locally. The King KAC-410 looks like the same machine and it sells for sub-$200. Sad that the CND has fallen so much. :(

I agree, Charleton. Once you do the math, unless you're saving at least 30% out of your wallet, it doesn't make sense. We can go to BusyBee or Markham Industrial, get the same unit, and not have any long distance PITA warranty issues. The state of the Cdn $ has made discretionary spending very [headinwall]

Busy Bee and Grizzly are owned by 2 brothers, one on either side of the border. That being said, all their machinery is manufactured in the same Chinese factories, but to different quality standards, Griz being higher quality. Just get a furnace fan and build your own ala Grumpy, for a fraction of the cost.

Thanks, Bob. I might make one like Ken Cierp made with a box fan and a series of furnace filters in a lightweight box. Lots of CFM's with the box fan!

I buy lots of stuff from the US and elsewhere and have never had a problem that I couldn't resolve on the phone quicker than driving the 20 minutes to Busy Bee. I do try and get things locally but this is still a deal in my mind, even with the poor exchange rate and shipping.

I've got several Grizzly machines and they have always done well to take care of me. I don't disagree with you at all Shane. I was just attracted to the $100 price tag and realized that after all the math (exchange, shipping, brokerage), etc. I really wasn't saving much... ($188 Grizzly vs. $199 King).

Cheers,
Charlton

Mine arrived yesterday. It is quieter than I thought it would be. I had planned to make a foam lined case around it to keep the noise down but it is much quieter than I anticipated.

My older delta is noisy enough that I generally wear my hearing protection when I have it on. Its not crazy noisy, but I had some hearing loss in one of my ears and am pretty protective of what I have left. It is good that these are fairly quiet.

As far as position in the room, I ran mine on the floor for a while. Then I ran it on a workbench just to sort of test it out. I get better performance on the ceiling. The down side to that is now that it has stopped working, I haven't gone through the effort to take it down and fix it.

Ed, do you know what Wynn filter number fits this machine? I can't seem to find this particular machine on their site. Or what name brand filter is this a clone of. . .?

LOL! Gotcha, I'll give them a call when I'm ready to make the upgrade. I'll even try to post back (if I remember).

By coincidence I received an e-mail with this offer this morning. http://www.rutlands.co.uk/pp+unbeatable ... omo=DK6680

It looks to be almost identical but we in the UK have to pay a lot more. Could it be the extra 120 volts? idunno
